Name in the logo: Institute of Reading Development
Slogan: Summer Reading Programs
The Institute teaches summer reading skills to children in preschool through adults, in programs offered as a community outreach by various university extended education departments. The goal of each program is to build age-appropriate reading skills and to stimulate a love of books and imaginative literature.

What we want:
- A simple, creative icon such as a book from which light is emanating or a person reading
- An icon that is easily recognizable and identifiable
- Clean layout and fonts
- A logo that works in color and black and white
- The slogan “Summer Reading Programs” to be featured prominently (more prominently than the company name)
- An identity that is simple, yet interesting

What we don’t want:
- An icon that looks like clipart
- A comical logo

Update Jan 16:
- Color scheme: we are not sure about this but try different combination of colors.
- Make sure your logo works on dark background.
- We'd like Summer Reading Programs to be incorporated in the circle.

  Thank you for your information @Raywind. We're working with him right now about this & also checking Choosa.net policy about copyright issues. Anyway, #199 is the only entry choosing a totally different concept, it's good enough to outstand from other entries with impressive mock-up.

  We contacted with Choosa Help & Support and that logo is not in any Design Transfer Agreement. He, Mikhail will have responsibility to contact the Choosa's designer & provide us a copyright licence. He will also work with us to provide a completing BIS. We forwarded these designs to our director & he only pick mikhail's mock-up for his professional presentation & out-trend idea. Thank @Raywind for your information, we will deal with that copyright issues w/o difficulty.

Dear applicants
There're less than 12 hours to the deadline. So far, we've had the finalists and we'll present the most suitable logos to our customer on Monday, Jan 20, then we will cooperate with the winner to finish the whole brand identity system. Good luck to the 3-4 Star entries.

With the good result of this contest, we're going to hold another contest "Design a Logo for Meditation Events" (https://www.freelancer.com/contest/Design-a-Logo-for-Meditation-Events-55290.html). SAMPLE LOGO #111 . There are many professional designers here so no need to say more. We're paying more attention to "ROUND-SHAPED" logo, professional & neat font, neutral color scheme because of our target audient is wide-ranged.

Your logo may be nice but sometime, we don't recognize that. So, making some mock-ups would be great.
We will use this logo in different applications: print ads, website, uniform and stationary...even with different advertising design style, so make it as much flexible as possible.

  I am afraid that I cannot do that. Because, in unsealed contest, designers can learn from weak points of others & know a logo, design style we are looking for. You save your time of sketching and spend more time making them perfect.
  
  We also have a team here to check intellectual property aspect of entries & we know who is trying to copy from others. We also provide detail feedbacks for the top entries so don't worry about "seal" stuffs. Is this an answer you expected ? If not, please let me know.

Please, DO NOT use clip-art or re-create from existing logo. Also NOTE that: "summer", "education" "wide-range of target audient".
Please read my design brief carefully:

What we want:

What we don’t want:

I am checking too many logos that're too popular. Please don't google "Education logo" "Reading logo..." and re-design clip-arts. It wastes your & my time. I cannot provide a feedback for every entry.

Hi CH :) I'm a bit confused with your ratings and design brief? you have rated entries that have no relevance to your contest and also rated clipart designs when you stated you did not want designs that looked like clip art? You rate #3 with 3 stars and it has nothing to do with the contest except bid for work! I submitted original concepts and designs and you rated me lower than these?
