Welcome. I need an AMAZING piece of COVER ART!!

My name is Fi, and I am creating a weekly podcast to be located in iTunes.
The podcast name is:

Natural Birth: HERstory

The show is all about natural birthing (hospital-free, drug-free) and features interviews with women who have birthed naturally, along with experts in the field (midwives, doulas, doctors). The information in the show will be delivered through storytelling. Hence the word "HERstory", instead of "history". The show aims to re-frame the message that has been perpetuated in the west, that childbirth is dangerous and painful. Traditionally, history has been written by males. "HERstory" is history through the female perspective. By sharing real stories from women that have given birth outside the hospital environment, and drug free, I believe we can inform pregnant women that there are alternative options for childbirth, and encourage them to decide for themselves how they want to give birth. This show is all about empowering women to take back the birthing experience into their own hands.

It is important that the designer understands why I have chosen this title, and takes into consideration the message of this show, throughout the design process.

The logo is to be the cover art image of the podcast when it appears in iTunes.
The logo must include the shows title.
The minimum picture size is 1,400 X 1,400 pixels and the maximum image size is 2,048 X 2,048 pixels.

I have uploaded some images to give you a guideline for what I am looking for.
I have an image in my mind: the smooth outline of a pregnant woman squatting, about to give birth, big full belly. One hand holding the bottom of the belly, the other hand on the top. Head looking upwards, mouth open in pleasure, eyes closed, beautiful hair flowing.

Image #1 is a rough sketch of this idea.

I want flowers in the belly to symbolise the blossoming of the baby and the mother. Flowers must either be white Lily's or a lotus. Flowers may or may not appear around the mother as well.

The (updated) pantone colors are the tones I want used in the cover art. (They were found on [login to view URL])
Please see the "apple blossom families" image for the use of colours. I also like this font. Simple.

The other images are for inspiration and to show you the kinds of styles and simplicity I like.
The purple image called "Bumi" (a mother birthing a baby) is for inspiration but must not be copied, as it is a logo belonging to a natural birthing centre.
The flower images are for inspiration only. Be creative.

The word "HERstory" does not have to be in capitals, as long as the "HER" stands out.

The images of fonts are examples I like.

Feel free to come up with your own design also, as I may like it even more. But what I have described is what I picture. I would design it myself except that I am a mother to an infant and I literally don't have free hands!

The image must be bold so that it is memorable in iTunes. SIMPLE and BEAUTIFUL.
I will also require a favicon image. So if the chosen logo is too detailed for favicon, I will need a more simple, modified version for favicon.
The logo must be vectorised.

Hi all! thank you SO MUCH for your hard work, I appreciate your willingness to do all the modifications i have requested. It's com down to 3 wonderful designers, Helen, Anais and Alyssa. It's been very hard figuring out which one to choose as they are all awesome! I want to use them all, but must choose only 1 for my cover-art. Anais, I love your design, it is very simple and clever, but I think its suits a business logo better. It would look beautiful on a letterhead. Helen, I love your image, it is very retro-classy. I love her hair and feet in particular. Alyssa, I love your image because it is wild and free, and the "look" I was always going for. I have had many women view the images and based on their feedback, I have decided to award Alyssa. Well done! And Thank you :) But I truly love all 3 of your work. Hey designers!! Thanks for your wonderful work so far! The entries are SO good, I'm having difficulty deciding so I have extended the competition for a final 3 days. Then I WILL be making the decision, so thanks for staying on board with me :) Those of you that are still in the competition, I would really like to see your version of a favicon I can use on my webpage that will be supporting the podcast show. The favicon needs to be a symbol 16 x 16 pixels. A symbol taken from your cover-art, so in effect it will be a logo OF a logo....perhaps the image of your flower in the belly....would love to see your ideas for this one. THANK YOU and GOODLUCK!

By bubba is mostly strapped to me, feeding or sleeping, while I do everything from the dishes to business planning, so I totally understand....but still, designing with baby must be hard!

Hi crew, I've had some feedback about the entries so far and have been recommended that if the designs were a little more modern, warm with a scientific edge the image would be more relatable to women who don't already classify themselves as in the "alternative" community. Just want to put that out there. I've uploaded a new image to show you what I mean by MODERN, WARM and SCIENTIFIC. Please see image: "The Honest Co. Hi guys, thanks for all your entries so far! Very creative :) I would like to see a version (on the entry of yours that I've rated the highest) with 3 simple, small words underneath the cover art. These words are "Stories. Wisdom. Sisterhood". The do not have to be separated by a ".". You can use a thin column or bar to separate, or something else. These words describe my show, and helps my audience understand what the podcast is about. The words are most suitable displayed down the bottom of the cover art. Please ask me any questions! For those designers that have already submitted...I have updated the 3 pantone colours I want used. They are very similar to the initial colours I requested. It should be fairly easy to change the colours already used... Please look at image "apple blossom families". This is the logo from a natural birthing photography blog. I also like the FONT used. Thanks!

hi guys! Just a reminder that the figure of the woman needs to evoke power and fearlessness! In my own experience, giving birth naturally (drug-free, out of a hospital environment) was the most transformative experience I have ever undertaken. I was in the squatting position for 12 hours, hair wild and loose. I was free and felt safe to make any noise I wish. When the pushing sensation started, it felt as if I was channeling the entire universe through my crown and pushing it down and out between my legs. The feeling of strength was enormous. Yes it was hugely painful, but the pain can turn into pleasure at the joy of what I was doing. So the cover art needs to capture this fearlessness and wild abandon of the birthing mother! Hope this has given you a good picture in your mind! Thank you!
