Contest Brief

I need a logo design for National Engineering Month 2015 (Canada). It will also be used for our crest design. These are given out to participants (mostly Girl Guides and Scouts) at events so this is a great opportunity to get your design work seen by 1000's of people!
Last year's crest is attached as an idea of where we are using the design, but this is boring so we'd like something more memorable.

Some design guidelines:
Size: The crest can be any shape but no more than 2.5 inches in area.
Colours: 3-4 colours maximum to save on embroidery costs
General: Keep it simple

Other
1.The National Engineering Month logo is attached for reference BUT you do not have to use it! Variations on 'National Engineering Month' or the acronym 'NEM' are possible.
2. 2015 must be included somehow
3. Bonus points: we have two program themes 'Mission to Mars' and 'Don't Wake Mom' if you find a way to incorporate something about these without cluttering up the design, it would be interesting to see.

Vector format graphics files must be provided by the winning entry.
