Develop a logo for Comtruk

Background / Overview:

Comtruk engineers and manufactures aluminium truck trays (refer to attached images for visual representation of the product). The company started in 1979. Its one time excellent reputation has been somewhat tarnished in the past decade due to challenges in meeting deadlines and customer expectations. Comtruk was purchased by Aluminium Industries of Australia (Ai) in 2014. Going forward, Comtruk will be a brand within the portfolio of Ai.

Ai plans to work to re-earn Comtruk’s reputation of excellence. With the support of the Ai infrastructure, Comtruk will begin to develop a line of aspirational product that looks better, functions better and integrates better with other related industrial transportation products to meet the emerging needs of the aluminium truck tray market.

Aluminium Industries (Ai)
Ai is an innovation leader in its industry. Founded in 1996, Ai is driven by a “what’s next” vision and long-term strategic planning. The organization has grown through the years to include six brands, on site IP and exquisite customer service.

Today, Ai employs about 100 people through our EDGE Architectural Glazing Systems, Pivotech, aiFAB, Intrack, Comtruk and Tasman Bull Bars brands, and exclusive “added value” and software development departments. Each Ai brand leads their particular market with aspirational products and practical support. Please refer to attachments of the current Ai logos and the logos of the Ai brands.

We are proudly Australian yet operate with a global perspective.

Logo goals and details:

Comtruk needs a logo that refreshes the brand, evokes feelings of technological innovation and demonstrates Ai’s commitment to the brand, the products and its people, all while respecting (being informed by) the company’s history. We feel the current Comtruk logo makes the brand look out of date and technologically lagging.

We want the logo to convey experience, strength reliability and innovation.

We would like the “ai” image (refer to attachment “ai_slant_cmyk_pos”) included in the design. Our intent is to communicate the Comtruk brand is supported by the infrastructure and innovation of Ai. However, in time, we expect the brand recognition and reputation of Comtruk will allow it to stand on its own and the “ai” will be removed.

We have been working towards a new logo for months. Please see attached document for proposed logos that were rejected.

Design of the new logo needs to take into account current and future uses, as well as the logo displayed alone and along with the Ai logo and all the other Ai brand logos.

Future application:
• Digital and print media (including, but not limited to brochures, technical manuals, fliers, websites, social media, eMarketing and eNewsletters, email signatures)
• Building signage
• Product branding
o decals placed within the red band running the perimeter of the truck tray – long, thin landscape orientation
o mudflaps – portrait orientation
o laser cut into aluminium
• Uniforms – embroidery
• Vinyl decals or wraps for fleet vehicles

Target audience:
Tradesmen and contractors, as well as fleet vehicle managers
