I am looking for a logo for our new brand of products: Fortress

Background info:

Fortress is a brand of chemicals/products for the industrial Maintenance / Home and Garden Maintenance sector and aimed specifically at home-owners with gardens. Examples of our products include: moss killer, mould killer, decking cleaner, patio cleaner and other such products. The name Fortress derives from the idea that every man's home is his castle. Well every castle gets battered by the elements, but with our help your castle can be a fortress. Our focus is on quality and effectiveness rather than price. Our products will be slightly more expensive than others but they will work.

The project:

We are looking for a graphical logo for this project (i.e. not just the word Fortress in fancy letters).
My initial concept would be to have literally a picture of a fortress, with the word Fortress placed on a banner in front of it. Obviously thats a pretty basic design though, so turning it into a great one is where hopefully you come in. Feel free to completely ignore this concept if you have a better one.

This logo will eventually be trademarked, so it is Extremely Important that the work is entirely original and that you do not borrow pieces from other people without suitable permission for commercial use.

At this time, there doesnt need to be any sort of tag line on the image, just the word Fortress. The word can be capitalized as you wish to suit your own design.

Colours: The products we sell are related to gardens/earthiness/weather and so I think blacks, greys and greens would be the most suitable colours to go with. However, I wouldn't like the logo to be too dull looking so it might be good to throw in a splash of purple, red or blue.

Miscellaneous info:
The logo will be used online as well as printed onto product labels and stationary. It therefore needs to be background neutral. I would prefer to just see all designs on a white background. The labels which this will be used on are not super-high resolution and so this should be taken into account, very fine details may get lost in the printing process.

UPDATE:
Thanks for your entries so far. Just to clarify things a little bit, I have seen a few entries coming at things from the chemical perspective for example with lab flasks incorporated into the design. In this case we would like to avoid this kind of imagery within the logo as the brand will eventually not just be limited to chemical products.

The better designs which we have seen so far have been the bigger/blockier ones as we feel that they will impose themselves better on packaging. You may want to bear this in mind if planning an entry.

We are not looking for a design where there is an icon beside the text but rather one where the text is incorporated into or underneath the picture (I believe it is called an emblematic logo)

After seeing a few entries, we definately prefer those where green/grey/black is the predominant colour.
