  you can use mockups without problems,it's just for showing the contest holder how will look a design.and when your entry win the contest you will not give the client the mockup,you give him just the design(without mockup).

     the problem is that the contest holders don't know what's a logo,they just want something look beautifull,and that's what the freelancers give them

  Contestants submitting mockups are prohibited from selling them to the contest holder. Read you licensing agreements. Mockups are not your own original artwork.

     When a design is submitted, every contestant digitally signs an agreement with Freelancer.com which states: "This entry is entirely my own original work and I agree to the Freelancer Terms and Conditions". Entries using mockups are not entirely the contestants' own original work.

     I believe that 'entry' is considered to be the artwork itself, not the template/background on which it's displayed. I might be wrong though, but then again, who can say that a pure white (or any other color) background is 'their own artwork'? See the problem here? ;-)

  Hi CH. Any comments on designs? A lot of three star ratings means a lot of work can be done to make them better. I believe we'd all be happy to see your suggestions.

     The CH has a good strategy. Contestants tend to copy top rated designs.

     Well, that's what usually happens in an open contest. It has it's pros and cons.
     But if there's no feedback that's the only way designers can develop their concepts in line with clients preferences.
     So, I guess everyone's waiting for a four star design now :D
