Contest Brief

READ ALL UPDATES AND THE CLARIFICATION BOARD!

I need a banner for Facebook & Twitter.

My site if it helps. Please don't mention the site name in your replies!

I did some laughable mock ups in paint to show what I envisioned in my head.
Of course the mock-ups are totally out of proportion, just trying to give the most I can to go on.

GUIDANCE
When you look in the example file...

The site title can be found at my site. Its an image. You can use this or Improvise.

Ripples to go under the whole Site title.

The secondary text is self explanitory.

Electronic cigarette. Would like this to have a titanium color. Key image words for search to help, ego, kanger, ego battery.

Dropper bottle. I would like this to have a frosted white or neon blue color. I would liquid flowing out of the bottle on to a imaginary floor of course. Possibly even pouring over some of the bat.

The example image has 3 examples.

1st original idea (ignore the white! Its ms paint. hehe)

2nd is more of a guide to show position of e-cig.

3 Was a secondary idea using a cartoon/stick figure. It would be holding an ecig

Note: I would like to see some smoke coming out of the e-cigarrette no matter the design of any image.

I like my first idea the best, but I am open to creativity.

I also added 2 files you should use to take care of the background. bg-rays and bg-blue.

As far as file format i would assume PNG is best? If not advise.

All files, psd and any others must be included in the delivery of the final selection.

Thanks to mssimpson77 here is some info on image sizes.

To quote mssimpson77. "FYI, facebook banner size is 851x351, twitter is 1500x500, as long as ratios are good then they'll be ok".

UPDATE: When adding a smoke effect. Note that the smoke effect should be coming out of the smaller end (tip) and not the larger end. Unlike normal cigarettes e-cigarettes only produce the smoke like effect out of the what would be butt area.

Adding some ecig images

UPDATE: I have no interest in "people" being in the banner. My apologies If I didn't make that clear.

UPDATE: 7/8/14

LAYOUT: This is not laid out in proportion. See new image file "final layout concept".

TITLE: Do not use my site header image it is only for guidance as stated in prior update notes.
Use it as guidance into the area of font types I like. I just don't like the most common used font types
The title should be aligned towards the top left of image.

SUB-TEXT: Best locations are below title or bottom (ish) center of banner. Font type doesn't have to be same as Title, but same concept.

RIPPLES: These a subjective to your design

FROM HERE THE REST OF THE BANNER SHOULD BE ON THE RIGHT HALF OF THE IMAGE.

ECIG: See the 2 layout images provided on placement. I really like to the files ecig2 and ecig3 if you can incorporate them.
If not, google "Kanger e-cig" kanger battery" or the like.

Dropper Bottle: First look at the bottle overflow image! This image is just for understand the effect. It is not a bottle,
but a glass. View all image files for named bottle...
Colors for liquid could be rainbow like, light or neon blue. Whatever works with the background being blue as it is.

    Great winning design, was sorry to see you close early but enjoyed the project non the less. When using images, be sure you're not infringing on any copyrights as there can be serious repercussions. I found this http://nickwellwood.blogspot.co.uk/2012/08/dsdn-142-project-2-structure-and-noise.html but I'm sure it's coincidence and you'll have been provided with a license for the images in your new logo.       So if CH uses images that he either doesn't own the rights to or aren't free for commercial use then he's liable to legal proceedings. Like I say, I'm sure this isn't the case and I'm sure I'm not pointing anything out that a designer doesn't know already.

    I will start eliminating entries tonight by rejecting them. If this is not the standard process someone let me know. I will also eliminate entries from those who have submitted multiple that no longer are needed.

    Just so everyone knows, I am not dead set on what I laid out. I am just trying to give you my current vision. It's really 50/50, I have been dead set on my vision before to only have it changed by amazing art work/concepts. Its your call on your submissions!

    Sorry everyone had a long day and I am off to sleep. I rated everyone so far, but will look to add guidance to all tomorrow. (Hopefully!) I am currently working a 3, 14 hour days. The evening of July 8th (EST) you will have my full attention again. I will attempt to provide feedback as much as possible until then. A FEW NOTES: The aspect ration of my site header is coming in poor on the banners. With that be, I ask no more submissions using my header. Use it as a guide and create your own title appearance. LAST NOTE: Please read all of the "BRIEF" along with this clarification board. Some submissions are eliminating themselves for not not read! I hate to see you waste time and your money by doing this. Seeing some awesome creativity and work! Thank you!

    Hello! I can't understand for what do you need bottle? And if I right that you need two banners for FB page and what size of banner for twitter do you need (1500x500)?

      the purpose of sealing the contest is not fear of copy the idea (actualy is very constructive to improve an idea - you can copy from internet not from other competitor). but a lot of people do not want you to find out that there are copy all concept. if the contest will not be sealed somebody maybe can realise this and will tell you about this problem. so, i personaly think is not a good idea to seal a contest

      I can see both sides of the argument. All in all, I should have sealed it when I posted the contest. The reason being is that I am adamant about keeping my site work as secretive as possible. Appreciate the feedback!

    Nice contest, great brief. FYI, facebook banner size is 851x351, twitter is 1500x500, as long as ratios are good then they'll be ok. RE jongirard's post- sealing the contest hides each designer's submission from other designers. This prevents copying, of course, but it's also a good way of hiding a design copied from other sources- google, shutterstock etc from people who might be able to point this out to contest holders. It's worth bearing in mind that if a freelancer wants to seal his own entry he can! Hope this helps.
