Hello talented freelance designers! We’ve got an exciting contest for you...

We’d like you to create a compelling visual campaign for the Freelancer brand. We’re searching for a campaign showcasing an emotional connection to the amazing opportunities we provide to people across the globe.

We believe that customers are not just driven by logical considerations, they are also part of an emotional experience.

Customers that feel a genuine emotional connection with a brand generate a lot more value and are a lot more engaged than those that do not.

Think of NIKE and the emotional connection they create by associating their brand with the pinnacle of human athleticism and achievement. The classic story of the hero’s journey.

Nike presents itself in a way that provokes customers: Just do it.

It is an emotional connection that crosses borders and cultural differences.

Your target audience are potential employers that could use freelancer.com - small businesses, consumers, startups, and even enterprise.

Maybe you’ll come up with a campaign about the power of human ingenuity and creativity,
the journey of how freelancers construct the things they make (such as work in our showcase https://www.freelancer.com/showcase).

Maybe it’s the story of the freelancer themselves but pitched in a way to appeal to employers. You could present a story about the creative process behind the awesome work produced for an employer.

Maybe it’s around the needs of the employers.

Maybe the visual campaign itself is a showcase of the work of the freelancers (think the Mastercard “priceless” campaign https://www.marketplace.org/2014/03/21/world/coming-billion-dollar-ad-campaign-priceless)

This is the type of creative calibre of the campaign we want to see. Visually, it is up to you. We want to see what you can do. It can be an illustration, animation, photo manipulation, or live-action video.

We will run the contest sealed and our talented design team will provide feedback to the best entries along the way to help you develop the best campaign!

DELIVERABLES:
We want you to create a visual campaign (preferably a series of images.. you may add online, audio or video elements if you wish but these are not necessary).

Submit a visual annotation of your pitch laid out in images. Whether it is an animation, a series of poster, creative social posts or billboard designs. Lay it out in real-world context with example images of where you see your idea launching.

SHOWCASING YOUR CREATION:
• Poster/graphic : Place it on a billboard or a wall with the artwork flat-laid next to it in your image.

• Animation/Video : Visual annotation if your creation by laying out keyframes and a link to your video in the description.
A series of 15 second videos, or one 30 second video.
Format: H.264 (.mp4) or AppleProRes (.mov) 1920x1080, 25-60 fps, 15-30 seconds long.
Radio stinger

SUBMITTING YOUR CREATION FOR HANDOVER:
• Poster/graphic : Illustrator (.ai) or photoshop (.eps or .psb). Preference is for Illustrator.
Size: A0 - 33.11” x 46.81” Portrait or Landscape with 3mm bleed.
RGB and CMYK version for print

• Animation/Video : Packaged After Effects folder.
• Radio sting : Mastered version and voice-over only version.

    Hey, It's a shame I found this contest too late and couldn't finish on time. Came up with 3 very strong and clever concepts (each containing 3 posters) that could work very well as guerrilla street marketing campaigns. I'm pretty sure they'd go viral. Please could we have extra time and extend the deadline by few more days? :) #extended

    Hi contest holder, I am working on a very compelling visual campaign for Freelancer. I will provide short 30 second video and series of posters. We have a charity in Bangladesh called CAFFE (Computers Are Free For Everyone), we teach computer skills such graphic design, web development, coding and electronics. Here is the website for CAFFE (www.caffebd.org). I have seen the contest recently and our team is working very diligently to create the visual campaign. We are creating an emotional video showing where our students comes from (the family background) and how Freelancer (earning money by working part time) is helping to pay for their education. I request you to extend the contest time, we will deliver you a good visual campaign content. Thank you very much.

      Can we take a CSR approach? If it so, How are you going to archive your marketing goals? As your example, The Nike campaign is not a CSR one. It's emotional on platform as a communication strategy, but not a CSR platform. I'm not clear. Help me. Thanks

    I'm feeling kind of lost since it's been over a week already that I've submitted my entry and I couldn't get any feedback or rating in my design and I have no idea if I should start improving it or changing the concept. I'm lost because this is not a contest from a different employer..it's a freelancer project. I mean, I'm disappointed with the owner of it all. Since it is the owner of the site that is doing it, who can I complain to?

      Thida M.. I can't find your entry. Oh.. Mark.. we've been wasting out time trying to explain the inexplicable to somone who hasn't even submitted an entry. Thida hasn't put any effort like we did to think, develop and create a campaign. As soon as you submit your entry Thida, we can finish this nice dialog. ;)

      : ).. How peculiar. And yet, they had such impeccably good English....Doesn't look like the Contest holder is actually in - which basically means, it doesn't look as if we're going to get ANY form of clarification regarding how to proceed here. Were we in a position of their being SEVERAL 4 star rated entries holding pole position - no CLEAR candidate received - continuing to submit would make sense on our part, we'd all be in with just as equally a good chance. But with only the ONE 4 constantly showing these past couple of weeks now - looks like they've clearly found their candidate, not really interested in anything else. No point the rest of us doing anything really. There are paying customers out there, I suggest we press on where there is actual work to do and get it done for them. I don't know if you've gotten any written feedback over-and-above rating but - assuming you haven't - at least you've got a clear indication you're definitely on the right track. That's probably the most important thing. My sincerest congratulations....

      The rest of us, if I'm honest - kind of faulting a bit here. That's the the problem when we're playing blind like this. If you've get a 3 but no direction, you know you've got a hand - but you don't know what's not right with it. Not a clue. It's like working for a Sphinx. You've got to go through the whole thing of: do I refine what I have done or do I take a completely different swing at it? Obviously, something works, but what - what?! - not a clue. Oh, Haitham. It's a pickle, I tell you. An enigma! No, if I were you - with a clear 4 - I'd be polishing off m'golf clubs round about now. Obviously, first I'd have to buy some golf clubs, that goes without saying - but - y'get the general idea.... Relax... : )
