Hi,

I plan to convert an abandoned bus station into a food court. Therefore, I need to submit a proposal with some sketches and renderings for a Powerpoint presentation to the local town council. FYI, the term 'food court' refers to an area where there'd be many food stalls selling different kind of dishes/meals. The seating is free (you can buy from any of the stalls and sit anywhere). The owner of the food court usually just sell the drinks and maintain the cleanliness and order of the area. He also collects rental fee from the stall operator's in order to maintain the food court.

I can't sketch properly, nor do i have the time or creativity. That's where you come in.

DESIGN THEME/CONCEPT

There is no specific theme to this food court but I guess that it should be something fun, colorful & youthful as it is close to a couple of universities and colleges. There are 6 main criterias which must be satisfied;

1) Must be attractive and able to become a landmark.
2) No major demolition or construction of structures (the building belongs to the local council). Normal renovation works is ok.
3) The main building will host the 'Drinks station' (no alcohol), where patrons will order & purchase their drinks (e.g coffee, juices, slurpees) . See pages 1-5
4) Food vendors/stalls will be located at the rear of the Main Building. See page 6.
5) Incorporate half a dozen or so flat panel LCD TVs in your design for patron's viewing.
6) Place the tables/chairs on the road and pavement (around the Main Building). 50% of the seats shall be positioned under a covered area (table umbrellas can be considered) while the other 50% must be 'open air'.

I have some pictures of the original building & its surroundings in the attached pdf file. You need to work from this.

DELIVERABLE

The deliverable is a Powerpoint presentation (Office 2010 should be fine) of the proposal which must contain the following elements;

1) Colored Pictures/Sketches of the main angles of the completed foodcourt area (e.g. Front, Rear, Left, Right, Top and a couple of Isometric shots). It doesn't have to be digital. You can scan a hand made sketch as long as its neat and tidy.
2) Some close up shots of the drinks station
3) Some close up shots of other interesting features of the food court
4) A description of the concept/theme.

RESULTS
---------------
The winner will be judged by;
1) Attractiveness of the concept/idea.
2) Cost of implementation (i.e. the cheaper the cost of renovation the better it is)
3) Tidiness & conformance of the deliverables (i.e. don't send me pdf of jpgs, i need it in ppt so that i can edit them later)

Pls note the attached pdf file which should provide some information of the current building/area.

I am thinking of having a large circus like tent which covers the whole drinks station building and a good portion of the area around it. The tents are high enough to let good airflow but also will protect patrons from rain and sunlight. The bar at the drinks station will run full length of the current building with stools all around the bar. Flat LCD panels will surround the edges of the current building's roof. 10 food stalls under tent like structures will be available around the main building preferably near to the outer perimeter for proper drainage. Dining tables with umbrellas/tents/roofs will litter the remaining area.

Also, please keep in mind that the no one will ever eat in the direct sunlight in Malaysia, its just too hot!! So the umbrellas or parasols might need to be the open-close type. But each table will need one.

Great stuff guys. Please keep in mind that this food court will be in Malaysia. It rains for a minimum 100 days in a year. So the outdoor furniture needs to be able to handle this. I forsee that the food court will be busy at night and lesser during day time.

Dear All, I have added 2 files. One is a .dwg & another .dxf. The dimensions are rough. Accuracy is not that important. Its okay as long as the ratios of the sketches are acceptable. I am more interested in the overall concept & design.
