Attached is a pen and ink drawing of a tree, I now want some colour added to the image. When finished, this coloured image is to be printed as a greetings card. I have no fixed ideas on the type of colouring, whether a watercolour wash, or detailed colouring, bright or muted. A background should be added that refers to the text below, for instance a wooden bridge fording a stream, set at the same angle as the bridge forming within the tree. Whatever the background, I do not want any visual references to Venice.

The tree however must stand out from the background

This is the second tree in a set of twelve, The Steadfast Oak was the first tree, here is the contest:

Standard card size is 127mm x 177mm which is a ratio of about 1 to 1.4, The design can be either portrait or landscape. (Notice for the Oak, I awarded two winners, one landscape and one portrait, they both got all the prize money). With a 3mm bleed all round

The Striding Alder
Wherever you walk, I’m there with you. I am the clogs that form the sole of your shoe, the preferred wood for building the bridges that take you over streams. That’s because I don't mind getting my own feet wet; they say I hold up most of Venice.
I often hug riverbanks as I love the running water that helps disperse my seeds. If you’re going on a long journey take a tip from me. Place my leaves in your shoes to keep your feet cool and stop them swelling.

Also attached is a sketch of the leaves, I do not want this image on the card, but would like the shape of the leaves represented in some way on the card.
