Apart from being a learning resource, the Freelancer Community is where you can find interesting and inspiring stories of freelancers and employers. These are the success stories of our users, which we publish based on certain criteria.

 
What makes up a good story that's worthy of getting published on the site?

1. The story should have an interesting angle

 

Employers post projects and contests for a reason. The task required could be as simple as create a logo or alter images, but if there's an interesting story behind it, then that's what can set it apart from other projects or contests.

 

Was the project done as part of a marriage proposal? Was it for a charity program the employer initiated? Was the freelancer hired to restore old photos needed for a grand family reunion? The reasons behind the projects are limitless, but what could catch the attention of the readers is the uniqueness of the story.

 

Freelancers who would want to share their success stories should distinguish their edge over the others. If you'd like to submit your story, ask yourself what's so special about it? Was it the output or the experience you've been through in completing the project? You could highlight a certain skill that could be of interest to others. You could focus on the important life goal you want to reach by freelancing (finish school, buy a car, or get married).

 

Stories may have their similarities but there are always defining elements that make yours stand out.

2. It must be very detailed

 

Avoid giving broad or generic responses to the questionnaire provided to you when we reach out to get more information about your success story. One-word replies warrant no details on how yours is an interesting story to tell. The more information we have, the easier for us to determine if your story is worth publishing.

 

When you submit your story, include images (or screenshots) of the project you've completed on Freelancer. Adding photos would give your story better chances in getting featured.

 

3. People can relate to your story

 

Users who click on case study posts are those intrigued with what the featured freelancer or employer has to share. They aren’t superheroes; they’re just regular human beings who may have the same dreams and aspirations like yours. Stories people can relate to are the ones that draw engagement both on the site and on our social media channels.

 

These stories aim to inspire other members of our growing community. It could be a story of an everyday freelancer or a thriving business owner; of  a website idea that turned into a business empire; of a student having difficulty paying college fees that became a financially independent adult. A certain story may not tell the same journey you've been through, but it could mean so much to others. All you have to do is find certain elements that can inspire anyone who reads it.
